Cleaning Gas Equipment
Reduce fire risk:
 |
- To clean gas appliances, use water-based cleaning solutions. Do not use
flammable solvents, such as turpentine or acetone.
|
- Keep the areas around your gas range, water heater, and furnace clean and
clear of any flammable material like alcohol or gasoline.
|
Dry all parts.
After cleaning your range and other appliances, make sure the parts are dry
before reinstalling. Take care not to damage or change the settings on air
shutters or sleeves.
Keep vents clean.
Keep chimney flues and appliance vents clean and in good condition. If they
are clogged or leaking, pollutants and combustion by-products can build up in
your home.
To keep natural gas appliances and equipment running safely, maintain and
clean them regularly.
